Staff Stories

Trent (Brisbane, Australia)

Trent arrived in Niseko to embark on a ski season alongside his girlfriend, Amy, who joined him as part of the Ki Niseko housekeeping team. Together, they embrace a nomadic lifestyle, seeking out new adventures wherever they go. Working in the same team allowed them to align their shifts, giving them plenty of time to enjoy the mountain and make the most of their experience both on and off the slopes. Trent’s cheerful attitude, strong work ethic, and dedication to guest satisfaction made him a valued member of the Ki Niseko 2024/5 winter seasonal team.

What is your favourite thing about/ to do in Niseko?

Snowboarding through the trees and the off piste areas was a huge motive to come to japan. The powder isn't anything like I have experienced before. After having worked one season it was an easy decision to come back and experience more of that again.

What do you like best about your role?

The best part about the housekeeping team is that the team are mostly Japanese residents. It makes for a very sweet and supportive environment. They have been so kind and patient and it’s been wonderful to make some great friends of all ages.

What is one piece of advice you would give to people wanting to come to Niseko?

The season always goes by way too fast so make the most of it from the start. Get on the mountain as much as you can, and explore the mountains around Hirafu. See some of the surrounding cities, as most of the cities in Hokkaido are only a bus or train ride away.
