Staff Stories

Rin (Japan)

Rin joined HTM on the Graduate Scheme and is a friendly face that can be found at front desk, welcoming customers and helping out with any queries during their stay at Skye Niseko.

What is your favourite thing about/ to do in Niseko?

Niseko is a beautiful destination where the scenery changes dramatically between summer and winter. I cherish meeting friends who inspire and encourage one another, and I am actively involved at Skye Niseko.

It’s a place where people from all kinds of backgrounds come together—seasonal and full-time international staff, as well as Japanese locals with diverse circumstances. Everyone I meet has a unique reason for being in Niseko and their own dreams for the future, and I’m constantly inspired by meeting new people.

One of Niseko’s greatest attractions is how completely the scenery transforms between summer and winter!

What do you like most about HTM's graduate program?

It's very reassuring to have colleagues close to my age with whom I can share insights about other departments. Meeting people I respect, who encourage one another, and working hard together with my colleagues is my greatest source of support!

What is one piece of advice you would give to people wanting to come to Niseko?

My first job in Niseko was through the Shiribeshi Study Abroad Program, sponsored by the Shiribeshi Subprefectural Bureau. At the time, I was working for another company, but I faced many challenges due to the language barrier, which left me with some regrets. However, that experience motivated me to pursue a job in Niseko as a new graduate.

To any students who may be unsure about taking the leap, I encourage you to take that first step. And most importantly, study English as much as possible—so you won’t have the same regrets I did!

Do you have any plans after completing the new graduate program?

My first department after joining the company was the front desk at Skye Niseko. I loved working there, but more than anything, I loved the Skye team, which is why I decided to join full-time. Moving forward, I will continue to work hard to become an exceptional front desk staff member, just like the senior colleagues I admire!
